The book ‘100 Philosophers’ said Spinoza was a Pantheist, a believer that God is everything and everything is God. It said he believed a fundamental moral duty was to increase our understanding and knowledge of everything that we can. As a Philosopher, he recognized the unity of everything and of which we are all a part. All other philosophers (even Descartes) saw the separateness of things in their philosophies. Spinoza’s works are still considered difficult, but only because of their advanced level of a more Infinite understanding.
As time passed, this Rationalist mode of philosophy was replaced by the Empiricists who felt that knowledge could only be obtained by experience. The Royal Society of Natural Philosophers in England being an example. Unsupported theories or clairvoyant knowledge was unacceptable. Everything had to be proven by experiment to be believed. This led to many scientists of today feeling that Philosophy is pretty much irrelevant, unless it can be empirically verified and hopefully materially useful.
It is clear after reading these many philosophies that Spinoza is still underrated and not understood. Even in his own day, some called him an Atheist, while others said he was God-intoxicated. Like Dr. Norman, he saw the Infinite Nature of life and espoused his beliefs…his magnum opus being ‘The Ethics’. Had he lived longer than 45 years, it would be interesting to see how closely his works might have paralleled Unarius teachings.
As it was, Spinoza’s Philosophy could be stated that God, being everything that there is, has (or is) complete knowledge; as human beings, our goal should be to increase our knowledge as far as possible, for the more knowledge we gain, the nearer we come to being God, and the freer we are.
Spinoza, the Brotherhood’s Emissary, demonstrated a life of Wisdom and Love…one of which I am very indebted to. It was during his lifetime that I was one of those Natural Philosophers who believed that ‘experimentation’ was the correct approach to knowledge. Now, as a student of Dr. Norman and Unarius I see how limited that concept was, and am deeply grateful and thankful that such an Advanced Being was willing to incarnate and share His Love and Infinite Wisdom with us!!!!!
